James Cameron‘s directorial Avatar: The Way of Water is one of the most-anticipated films of the year. After a wait of 13 years, moviegoers will once again witness the world of Pandora. Made on a massive budget, the film is expected to perform well at the box office, both in India and overseas.
AVATAR 2 SELLS 15,000 TICKETS
According to the latest reports, the sequel of the Oscar-winning film Avatar has already sold over 15,000 tickets within just three days since the advance booking opened in India. It should be noted that the advance booking openings were just in premium formats, across 45 screens.
With just three weeks to go for Avatar to release worldwide, more shows are set to open across India.
AVATAR 2 TO MAKE SPLASH WITH ADVANCE BOOKING NUMBERS?
According to Kamal Gianchandani, CEO of PVR pictures, the film is expected to bring “huge numbers” at the box office.
He said, “James Cameron and his films have always created magic on the Indian box office and audiences have been waiting for this spectacle!. There has been a massive response on the advance booking even though it is just the premium formats and with all other formats opening today, we are expecting huge numbers ahead!.”
Chief Programming Officer at INOX Leisure Limited, Rajender Singh Jyala said in a statement, “The sequel to Avatar will be a massive family entertainer that people across generations will witness. All our premium format shows across most of the INOX properties have already been sold out, which is excellent news for us. Booking numbers will go up significantly once we open bookings of regular 3D and 2D formats.”

Avatar: The Way of Water is scheduled to release on December 16 in six languages across India – English, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi.
The original Avatar grossed $785 million in the all-time box office chart and domestically, it minted around Rs 101 crore at the Indian box office.
The film stars Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Kate Winslet in pivotal roles.
