Sri Lanka easily trounced Zimbabwe by 33 runs in their opening exhibition match.

On Thursday, October 13 at Melbourne’s Junction Oval, the seventh match of the T20 World Cup Warm-up Matches 2022 will feature Sri Lanka and Ireland. Both sides are playing in their second game after having had varied degrees of success in their previous one. Sri Lanka scored 188 runs for the cost of five wickets in 20 overs to easily overcome Zimbabwe by 33 runs. Kusal Mendis scored the game’s most runs, although Sri Lankan batsmen were dominant throughout the entire contest.

Ireland, on the other hand, fell short against Namibia in their opening match by just 11 runs. The bowlers had a successful day at work because they were able to limit Namibia to just 138 runs in 20 overs. The Irish batsmen did not perform to their full potential and were all out for 127 runs in 19.5 overs. The only hitters who put up any resistance were Paul Stirling and Lorcan Tucker; however, nobody else was able to score more than 20 runs. Four of the seven batters who were struck out for a single-digit score were out on a duck. Ireland will be aiming for a significantly stronger performance from the hitters in the upcoming matches.
