On Wednesday night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, watch all the action live as Tottenham takes on Eintracht Frankfurt in Group D of the Champions League.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of Tottenham’s matchup with Eintracht Frankfurt in Group D of the Champions League.
Antonio Conte and his Spurs team will be determined to defeat the Bundesliga team this time, having squandered some magnificent opportunities at Deutsche Bank Park in their previous meeting eight days ago.
At the halfway point of Group D, the Lilywhites are currently in second place and tied on points with third-place Frankfurt. A victory would give them a good chance to advance to the knockout stage.
They entered the game with more confidence thanks to their victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, while Oliver Glasner’s team was on the losing end after a 3-0 loss at VfL Bochum.
Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest, two Tottenham correspondents, are covering the game with all the build-up, the action as it unfolds on the field from inside the stadium, and the response from the fans and media.
Here are Alasdair’s thoughts on Spurs’ first half
Apart from the unfortunate timing of Frankfurt’s goal, Antonio Conte would have preferred that first half.
Son’s right-footed precise finish off of Kane’s through ball to start the scoring was right out of their script because of how well his front three have been coordinating in the 3-4-3 formation.
Once the referee received assistance from VAR, the England captain embarked on his own frantic dribble to earn the stonewall penalty, which he converted for his first Champions League goal of the season.
Hojbjerg then demonstrated how to cross from the right by running and playing a lovely clipped ball into the box, where Son met it with a technically outstanding left-foot volley. He only needs one more goal to complete an ideal hat-trick. With a low shot following some nice work by Kane and Sessegnon, he did come close to getting his third. The sole drawback was Eric Dier’s lapse in judgement, which allowed Frankfurt to score first and give Daichi Kamada the assist.
